About Us
Who we are
R&D Chess Academy is the brainchild of Woman International Master (WIM) Deborah Richards-Porter (DRP) and Candidate Master (CM) Russel Porter. WIM DRP, the Caribbean's #1 Female Chess Player, 10-time National Women's Chess Champion, Six-time Chess Olympian and coach to Many National Champions spearheads the day to day operations with a crazy-fun but strict personality. For more than 15 years, R&D has been successfully using chess to coach students of various levels, ages and backgrounds. We therefore not only cater to adults and children who want to become the best chess player, but we also use chess as a tool to teach meaningful skills that have served our students very well in other areas of their life.
